[Ref. 412] JIMMY GUIEU:
Science fiction writer and French ufologist pioneer Jimmy Guieu indicates that on November 8, 1954, at the fall of night, Mr. André Chaillou, blacksmith, resident in Louplande in the Deux-Sèvres, was returning to his home by mptorcycle, when his attention was drawn by a blue disc evolving in the sky.
The headlight of its motorcycle suddenly died out, and the engine was blocked.
The luminous disc approached the witness who was then wrapped in a blue light as violent as that of an electric arc.
During several minutes, he was unable to move the arms, neither the legs, nor to articulate a word, and remained paralyzed, a foot on the ground, on his motorcycle. He moreover felt a tickling in the hands, in spite of the gloves which protected them.
The blue ray disappeared and Mr. Chaillou spontaneously recovered his abilities. His motorcycle functioned again normally and he resumed his trip.
But 200 meters further, he saw a new gleam. He approached but darkness fell. He heard a gentle whistling sound and he saw a dark mass which rose vertically to disappear horizontally in the direction of the North. The mass was illuminated gradually, presenting a cone of 5 to 6 meters length approximately.
[Ref. 1244:] JACQUES VALLEE:
Jacques Vallée indicates that on November 8, 1954 in the twilight in Tessoualle close to Cholet, a man returned at his place and saw a blue disc in the sky, at the moment when his engine stopped and his headlights died out.
This disc approached and the man was surrounded by an intense blue light and remained unable to move during several minutes, unable to articulate a word and feeling swarmings in the hands in spite of his gloves.
As soon as the blue light turned off, he could move and start the engine, but the light reappeared 200 meters further and he decided to approach. But the UFO darkened and flew away with a soft whistling soud, vertically, then horizontaly towards the north.
The UFO is described as a cone of approximately 5 to 6 meters in height
The author does not indicate sources.
[Ref. 957] MICHEL CARROUGES:
Michel Carrouges indicates that on November 23, in the département of Deux-Sèvres, Mr. Chaillou, on motorcycle, was overflown by a blue disk which went towards him and bathed him in a blue light "as violent as a welding torch light." The engine stalled. the headlight died out. The witness felt ticklings in the hands. He was paralyzed during several minutes in the arms and the legs and could not speak.
Carrouges notes this case in his listing of cases with physical effects, and newspaper France-Soir of November 24, 1954, as the source.

333 Nov. 08, 1954, dusk, La Tessoualle (France). Andre Chaillou felt pricklings in his hands, "in spite of his gloves," when a blue disk came close to his motorcycle and his electrical system failed. He was unable to move or articulate a word for several minutes. As soon as the blue light was turned off, he started again and went near the light when it reappeared 200 m away. He saw the object, a cone 5.5 m in size, rise vertically with a soft whistling, then fly horizonally to the north. (Combat, 23 nov, Paris-Presse, 24 nov 1954) (98). |
[Ref. 213] CHARLES GARREAU AND RAYMOND LAVIER:
The two authors indicate that in Louplande in the Sarthe, on November 8, 1954, André Chaillou, the blacksmith of Louplande, returned home by motorcycle whereas the night had fallen.
His attention was suddenly drawn by a blue disc which evolved in the sky. Almost at the same moment, the headlight of its motorcycle died out and the engine stalled. The disc approached.
The two authors give this account:
"I was wrapped of a bluish light, as violent as that of an electric arc. During several minutes, I remained frozen on my motorcycle, a foot on the ground, not being able to move neither arm neither legs, nor to articulate a word. In spite of my gloves, I felt ticklings on my hands. The blue ray died out. I found all my faculties instantaneously. My motorcycle functioned normally again. I resumed my trip. But at the end of 200 meters hardly, I saw a new gleam. I however continued to advance. The darkness was down again. I heard a gentle whistling sound, at the same time as I saw a dark mass sinks rise vertically and disappear then horizontally in the direction of the North. This mass illuminated gradually, taking the appearance of a cone of 5 to 6 meters approximately..."
The two authors provide as reference the book "Black-out sur les soucoupes volantes", by Jimmy Guieu.
[Ref. 444:] MICHEL FIGUET AND JEAN-LOUIS RUCHON:
The two authors note that on November 8, 1954 in the twilight between Tessoualle, community of Cholet, and Loublande, community of Mauléon, André Chaillou, blacksmith of Loublande (department of the Deux-Sèvres) returned from Tessoualle (department of the Maine-et-Loire) by motor cycle on the road D258 then D358. Suddenly, the headlight of the motorcycle died out and the engine stopped.
He then saw a blue luminous disc then that he had already seen evolving in the sky, resembling a bluish light as violent as an electric arc. The disc evolved at low altitude.
During several minutes, he remained with a foot on the ground on his motorcycle while being unable to move neither arm neither legs, nor to articulate a word. In spite of his gloves, he felt ticklings in his hands.
When the light disappeared, he recovered his move, his motorcycle functioned again, and he could go.
200 meters farther, he heard a gentle whistling sound and saw a dark mass which rose vertically; it gradually illuminated, presenting a cone from 5 to 6 meters of length approximately.
The authors note that Jimmy Guieu and C. Garreau speak of Loublande; Quincy speaks of Louplande at 5 km in straight line, at the north-north-east of the Suze-sur-Sarthe (the Sarthe), and that actually, the witness was crossing the 5 km that separate the village of Tessouale, in the south of the Maine-et-Loire, from the village of Loublande, in the north of the Deux-Sèvres.
They note as effect on the witness: paralysis and the feeling of tickling in the hands. They point out that the feelings of ticklings in the hands of motorcycle riders are often due to a bad blood circulation caused by the numbness of the hands and the vibrations of the handlebar.
They note as effect on vehicle the failure of the engine of the motorcycle.
They indicate that their sources are the Vallée catalogue, case 333, the book "Black-out sur les S. V" by Jimmy Guieu, page 234 and "Face aux E.T." by C Garreau and R. Lavier, page 89, the bulletin "U.F.O. Info" of the A.A.M.T., N.15, "OVNI et géographie" by Mr. Figuet., as well as Guy Quincy, and the newspapers Combat and Paris-Presse for November 24, 1954.

Obviously there is a problem with the date. Is is not unlikely that Jacques Vallée once again has the date wrong, since newspapers generally do not wait so long to report such events. The real date can probably be found in the newspaper sources. Besides, John Schuessler has changed the motorcycle in a car, probably due to a translation error.
