NARRATIVES:
[Ref. jf1:] JEAN FERGUSON:
The author indicates that on December 3, 1967 in Barcelona in Spain, a
woman met a strange small entity resembling a cactus with four
members leaving deep traces.
[Ref. js1:] JACQUES SCORNAUX:
Jacques Scornaux indicates that in Barcelona, in Spain, on December 3,
1967, a case on which the information is extremely sparse took place,
and he quotes:
"A woman reported to have seen a strange entity resembling a cactus with
four members, leaving deep traces. The witness does not want to comment
on the case. (Ribera) (162)."
As no book or magazine title was indicated, he notes that it can be
assumed that it was a personal communication from Antonio Ribera to
the authors of the study on the Iberian landings, quoted as reference 162.
On May 9, 1984, one of the authors, well-known Spanish ufologist
Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos, wrote to him in connection with this case:
"It is only a rumour which cannot constitute a serious entry in a catalogue."
Scornaux notes that thit "of course did not prevent this case from
slipping into Ted Phillips' catalogue (19, p. 54), with mention of the traces."
[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:
Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Barcelona, Spain, on December 3, 1967,
at an unknown time, a woman reported seeing a strange cactus-like entity with four members,
leaving deep footprints. The witness does not want to discuss the incident, and there
is no other information.
Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Antonio Ribera.
[Ref. dj1:] DONALD JOHNSON:
Donald Johnson indicates in his chronology that on December 3, 1967,
in Barcelona, Spain a "cactus-like" entity with four appendages, presumably
two arms and two legs, was sighted. It left deep footprints in the soil.
The source is indicated as Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos investigation files.
POINTS TO CONSIDER:
This is an exemplary case of the unusable anecdote reproduced from
catalogues to books to catalogues. The lack of even the most basic data such
as the hour and the place, the absence of UFO, the absence of investigation,
a reluctant, unnamed, undetermined, unique witness, makes it totally unjusify to include the case in a catalogue of physical
traces of the UFOS like Ted Phillips did.
