THE A51-17 REGULATION:

In 1984, UFO sightings are still to be reported. The drop of UFO studies by the USAF as announced to the general public through the press is not a real abandon of any interest. UFO reports are still handled with care by the USAF.

3. UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS

A controller receiving a report about an unidentified flying object must obtain as much as possible of the information required to complete a report in the format shown below.

  • A. Date, Time, and Duration of Sighting
    Local time to be quoted
  • B. Description of Object
    Number of objects, size, shape, colours, brightness, sound, smell, etc.
  • C. Exact Position of Observer
    Geographical location, indoors, outdoors or moving
  • D. How Observed
    Naked eye, binoculars, other optical device, still or movie camera
  • E. Direction in which Object was First Seen
    A land mark may be more useful than a badly estimated bearing
  • F. Angular Elevation of Object
    Estimated heights are unreliabe
  • G. Distance of object from observer
    By refrence from a landmark whenever possible
  • H. Movement of Object
    Changes in E, F and G may be of more use than estimates of course and speed
  • J. Meteorlogical Conditions During Observations
    Moving Clouds, haze, mist, etc.
  • K. Nearby Objects
    Telephone or high-voltage lines; reservoir, lake or dam; swamp or marsh, river; high buildings, tall chimneys, steeples, spires, TV or radio masts; airfields, generating plant; factories; pits or other sites with flood lights or other lighting.
  • L. To Whom Reported
    Police, military organisations, the press, etc.
  • M. Name and Address of Informant
  • N. Any Backround information on the Informant that is volunteered
  • O. Other witnesses
  • P. Date and Time of Receit of Report
  • The details to be telephoned immediatly to the AIS (Military) LATCC.
    The completed report is to be sent by original air traffic service unit to the ministry of Defense (AFOR).
