Conformément à la procédure 200-72B-I du Département de la Collection de Renseignements
de l'Armée, datée du 6 août 1957, sujet: "engins volants non conventionnels",
l'information suivante est transmise:
1. Le 10 mars 1958, le capitaine Harold E. Stahlman, du Bureau des Opérations du 764ème
Centre des Opérations Antiaériennes (AAOC), Fort Clayton, zone du canal, a rapporté
l'information au sujet d'une observation d'un objet volant non identifié. A 2003R, le 9
mars, Stahlman, en tant qu'officier adjoint commandant la Défense Anti-Aérienne, AAOC,
a été informé à son domicile par l'Officier en Service Opérationnel de l'AAOC, de ce
que l'AAOC a reçu un rapport radar d'un objet volant non identifié approchant par
le côté Pacifique de l'Isthme de Panama. Stahlman est arrivé à l'AAOC approximativement à 2008R.
Pendant le repérage radar du premier blip qui est apparu sur l'écran de radar, on a observé
deux blips additionnels à 2045R. Le premier écho a été identifié comme un avion de ligne
des Chilean Airlines qui a atterri à l'aéroport de Tocumen, Tocumen, République du Panama.
Les deux autres blips, qui n'ont pas été identifiés, ont indiqué que les deux objets étaient
à proximité générale de Fort Kobbe, zone du canal. Un avion civil dans la proximité générale
des objets a fait une recherche visuelle du secteur avec des résultats négatifs. Les blips
originaux ont été détectés par le radar de recherche et ensuite transférés à l'unité de radar
de pistage située à l'île de Flamenco, Fort Amador, zone du canal. Cette unité
a pu effectuer un verrouillage radar sur les objets non identifiés et l'information
suivante a été obtenue:

| Emplacement Objet: | LJ 2853. (Geo-Ref, Systeème de Grille de Référence Militaire). |
| Météo Dominante: | Dégagé, visibilité illimité, aucun vent rapporté. |
| Direction du Vol: | Angle d'élévation moyen, 365°, Azimuth, 333 miles. |
| Type de Vol: | Stable, trajet légèrement circulaire au-dessus du voisinage de Fort Kobbe, Canal Zone. |
| Altitude: | A variée de deux à dix mille pieds. Moyenne de sept mille pieds. |
Une tentative a été faite par des membres du site radar de l'île de Flamenco, d'observer
les objets avec des projecteurs. Quand la lumière a touché les objets, ils ont voyagé
d'une altitude de deux mille pieds à dix mille pieds en cinq à dix secondes.

In accordance with Department of the Army Intelligence Collection 200-72B-I, dated 6 August 1957,
subject: "Unconventional Aircraft", the following information is submitted:
1. On 10 March 1958, Capt. Harold E. Stahlman, Operations
Office, 764th Anti-Aircraft Operations Center (AAOC), Fort Clayton
Canal Zone, reported information concerning the sighting of an unidentified
flying object. At 2003R, 9 March 1958, Stahlman, as Deputy Defense Commander
for Anti-Aircraft Defenses, was notified at his home by the Operations Duty Officer, AAOC, that
the AAOC had received a radar report of an unidentified flying object approaching the
Pacific side of the Isthmus of Panama. Stahlman arrived at the
AAOC at approximately 2008R.
During the radar tracking of the first blip which appeared on the radar
screen, two additional blips were observed at 2045R.
The first echo was identified as a Chilean Airlines aircraft which
landed at Tocumen Airport, Tocumen, Republic of Panama. The two other blips, which were not
identified, indicated that the two objects were in the general vicinity of Firt kobbe, Canal Zone. A
civilian aircraft in the general vicinity of the objects made a visual search of the area with negative results. The original
blips were picked up by Search radar and then transferred to the Track radar Unit located
at Flamenco Island, Fort Amador, Canal Zone. This
unit was able to lock on the unidentified objects and the following
information was obtained:

| Manner of Flight: | Steady, slight circular path over the vicinity of Fort Kobbe, Canal Zone. |
| Altitude: | Varied from two to ten thousand feet. Average of seven thousand feet. |
An attempt was made by members of the Radar Site, Flamenco Island, to observe the objects by searchlights. When the
light touched the objects, they traveled from an altitude of two thousand feet to ten thousand feet in five to ten seconds.
